POSITION SUMMARY: With support & guidance from the Director of Operations, the Program & Operations Director will be responsible for the development, organization, implementation and oversight of high-quality programs in the areas assigned, ensuring they align with the community needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensures the care, safety and well-being of all members, guests, participants and staff on site at the Edison Y and off site at Oakcrest Community Pool.
• Interacts with participants, members, guests, staff and the community in a positive, professional manner.
• Establishes, leads and supervises programs and events to meet the needs of the communities served.
• Assesses the program’s impact and effectiveness using current data.
• Ensures the program areas being used are safe, maintained and suit the needs of the program.
• Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and develops staff to fill the needs of the programs within the culture of the Association.
• Ensures staff are adequately trained in all safety and emergency procedures and certifications are current.
• Ensures program and facility compliance with all state and local regulations.
• Maintains all records according to local, state and YMCA policy.
• Effectively completes administrative functions, including but not limited to: payroll, hiring packets, incident reports, brochure preparation, department and branch communications.
• Develops and manages the budget for all areas of responsibility with guidance & direction from the Director of Operations.
• Monitors and oversees purchases of all supplies necessary.
• Communicates concerns to Branch Director of Operations in a timely manner to ensure they are being addressed.
• Engages as an active participant and leader in YMCA staff teams, association teams & local & state networks as assigned.
• Provides leadership within program areas for fundraising and events to support the overall efforts of the association.
• All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS/BA degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent
• Exceptional relationship building, decision making, communication and organizational skills necessary
• Two years proven supervisory skills or relevant work experience
• Program management experience
• Budget development & management experience
• Previous YMCA experience preferred
• Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard & CPR/AED certifications (or willingness to attain)
