A Letter from our Director

Hello! I'm Jennifer Guthlein, Early Learning Director at the Edison YMCA, and I'd love for your family to be part of what we're building here.

With 27 years at the YMCA and nearly two decades as a director, I've dedicated my career to creating high-quality early childhood experiences where every child feels valued, supported, and excited to learn. Our program has deep roots in excellence, including participation in one of New Jersey's first Grow NJ Kids pilot programs and a partnership with the Edison School District.

At Edison YMCA, we believe a strong family-educator partnership is the foundation of every child's success, and we're committed to making your child's preschool experience one they'll carry with them for life.

When you enroll, you're not just choosing a preschool. You're joining a family. We'd be honored to welcome yours.

About Our Curriculum

We follow the Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive, play-based approach to early childhood education that supports children's development through hands-on exploration, meaningful interactions, and intentional teaching. It is designed to help children build essential skills in literacy, language, math, science, social-emotional development, and physical growth by engaging them in developmentally appropriate experiences connected to their everyday lives. Teachers create rich learning environments and guide children through purposeful conversations, activities, and play that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and confidence.

A key feature of the Creative Curriculum is its use of ten interest areas, including literacy, dramatic play, blocks, and manipulatives, where children learn through active exploration and collaboration. These experiences help children strengthen communication, critical thinking, social skills, and independence while fostering a lifelong love of learning. The curriculum also emphasizes strong partnerships with families by providing ideas for extending learning at home, creating a consistent connection between school and family experiences that supports each child's overall growth and success.
