A Letter from our President & CEO

Dear YMCA Valued Member:

As you may know, last week the CDC released new guidance on wearing face masks, recommending that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a face mask when social distancing in any setting.  While this is encouraging news, these recommendations do not supersede state and local requirements.

Our Y operates in accordance with all guidelines set forth by the local and state Department of Health.  At this time, those guidelines have yet to be updated.  Until then, the established requirement for each branch of our Y, including our Learning Centers—such as wearing face masks and social distancing—remain in effect.

We remain in close contact with local officials and look forward to keeping our members updated. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. As always, the safety of all who walk through our doors is our number one priority.

Some exciting news that we want to share is that, as of May 19th, our fitness centers will no longer be subject to capacity restrictions by the state, as long as the 6’ of distance between individuals can be maintained.  We are very excited to be able to welcome back our members as they re-commit to their health and wellness journeys, and please know that our staff is eager to assist you in any way that they can.

We are also excited about this year’s camp season!  It’s time to get the kids out of the house and enjoying a sunny, active and enriching summer!  Capacity limits have increased so that we can provide a great summer experience in a safe environment to more kids!  We have great things planned for our campers this year, including offering academic recovery programming to help kids catch up who may have suffered academically during the last school year.

As we emerge from the pandemic, we have learned many new ways on how to offer our programs and services in an unconventional way, including outdoor group exercise classes, which we will continue to offer, based on their success.  We will also be reviving our events, including the Janice Garbolino Memorial 5K Run/Walk, Richard Hale Memorial Golf Classic and our Tot Trot & Festival.  Please check our website for more details!

We value the support of our Y members during this time and look forward to seeing our facilities and Learning Centers bustling with activity once again!

Sincerely,

Rose Cushing, President & CEO
