YMCA of MEWSA Opens Registration for 7th Grade Initiative

The YMCA of Metuchen is excited to announce that registration for its 2022 - 2023 7th Grade Initiative is open. Registrants are required to bring their 2022 - 2023 school ID or schedule and schedule a wellness orientation with a guardian present. Members can register at the following locations: YMCA of Metuchen - 65 High Street, Edison Community Campus - 1775 Oak Tree Road, South Amboy YMCA - 200 John T. O’Leary Boulevard and YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center - 520 Hoes Lane.

The 7th Grade Initiative is a nationwide YMCA program that promotes wellness, confidence and relationship building to young teens in a safe, supportive environment. Program participants are given full access to the YMCA facilities including state-of-the-art cardio and strength rooms, open gym time for basketball, badminton and pickleball, open swim time, reduced rates on all paid programming, dozens of free group exercise classes including Zumba™, Yoga, Spin and more.

The program also gives participants access to the Metuchen YMCA Leaders Club. Leaders Club highlights the importance of team building, communication, leadership and volunteering. They work directly with role models and learn how the Y can help them thrive.

“The 7th Grade Initiative is one of the most important programs we offer and I’m thrilled to see its full return this year,” said YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy CEO Rose Cushing. “As our community and the Y continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, a focus on wellness and team building is more important than ever. We look forward to welcoming hundreds more 7th graders this year!”
