YMCA of MEWSA Launches 2023 - 2024 7th Grade Initiative

The YMCA of MEWSA launched the 7th Grade Initiative at its Metuchen YMCA, Edison Community Campus, South Amboy YMCA and YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center locations.

The 7th Grade Initiative is a YMCA program that promotes wellness, confidence and relationship-building to young teens in a safe, supportive environment.

Program participants are given full access to the YMCA facilities, including state-of-the-art cardio and strength rooms, open gym time for basketball, badminton and pickleball, open swim time, reduced rates on all paid programming, dozens of free group exercise classes including Zumba®, Yoga, Spin and more.

“The 7th Grade Initiative is an integral part of the YMCA’s mission,” Edison YMCA Healthy Living Director Christine Jaffe says. “This is the time in a child’s life when they begin to form healthy habits, and it’s an honor to be a part of it.”

Registrants must bring their 2023 - 2024 school ID or schedule and sign up with a guardian present. Interested participants can visit the Metuchen YMCA, Edison Community Campus, South Amboy YMCA or YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center to enroll.
