A Personal Message from our CEO, Rose Cushing

To our YMCA Community,

I’m writing to share a personal update with you. After nearly ten incredible years as President and CEO of the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy (MEWSA), and more than 35 years of service to children, families and communities, I have made the heartfelt decision to retire, effective September 1, 2025.

This journey has been more than a career. It has truly been my life’s calling. Since stepping into this role in 2015, I’ve had the privilege to lead an organization deeply rooted in values, inclusion and impact. Together, we’ve expanded programs, built strong partnerships and strengthened the Y as a trusted resource for all.

I am especially proud of how we have embraced equity and access, ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome, supported, and empowered to grow.

As I prepare for this next chapter, I remain committed to a smooth and thoughtful transition. Our Board of Directors, in partnership with Y-USA, has already begun a nationwide search for our next President and CEO. We are focused on finding someone who will carry our mission forward with heart and purpose.

I will continue to serve through our summer season, and I look forward to spending the next few months doing what I love most: supporting our staff, families and community.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. I am forever grateful.

Warmly,

Rose Cushing

President & CEO
