YMCA of MEWSA Announces Closure of Harborview Early Learning Center
The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy announces that Harborview Early Learning Center will conclude operations on June 30, 2026.
The YMCA recently learned that Harborview Early Learning Center will no longer be able to remain in its current location beyond June 30. While this is a difficult decision for everyone involved, the YMCA is committed to supporting children, families, and staff throughout the transition.
“Our hearts are with the children, families, and dedicated staff who have made Harborview such a special place,” said Laura Muñoz Humphreys, President & CEO of YMCA of MEWSA. “We know this news is difficult, and our priority is ensuring every family receives the support and resources they need as they prepare for this transition.”
The YMCA is working directly with enrolled families to provide information about alternative childcare options, including YMCA programs, partner organizations, and other community childcare providers where available. Staff are also supported throughout the transition with information about employment opportunities and available resources.
Harborview Early Learning Center has been an important part of the community, providing a safe, nurturing environment where children have learned, grown, and built meaningful relationships. The YMCA is grateful for the trust families have placed in its staff and for the opportunity to serve the community through the program.
While Harborview Early Learning Center will close at the end of June, the YMCA of MEWSA remains committed to strengthening the community through programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Families with questions regarding the transition are encouraged to contact Dr. Jennice Webb, Vice President of Operations and Childcare Services, at jennice.webb@ymcaofmewsa.org.
